  • and most importantly why I left the answer to my question will there be other characters from the original ? Yes, but the exact information of who and when and in what series we can not speak of the politics of the show episodes0_1477415168736_A_1CQI9ysj0.jpg 0_1477415191358_IUUbjtxYkDo.jpg

  • RebelTaxi's 63rd podcast was uploaded today. At the 1:15:00 mark (they have the list of topics that they discussed in the description section of the video) is where they talk about and criticize the Ben 10 reboot.

  • I was watching that 4 hours ago
I think we speak for everybody saying that the biggest screw up was no Paul Eiding.
Gwen we all know is replaceable, but Max... is just... that's where you screw up...

@Ebomnitrix Noooooo. The biggest screw up is going for this reboot in the first place and making it the way that it is right now while putting in little to no effort into it while also having little to no care and respect for the franchise, the fans, the new generation, etc. That is the biggest screw up here.

As for Gwen, no. Much like with Max, she's not replaceable either. Like with Paul Eiding portraying Max, no one has done a much better job with Gwen than Meagan Smith. Much like with Tara Strong to Ben and Paul Eiding to Max, Meagan Smith helped define Gwen as a character. She made Gwen stand out the most. She gave the best performance for Gwen. She helped make Gwen an iconic character. If they really cared for and respected the Ben 10 series, not only would Paul Eiding be voicing Max right now but there would've been a good chance that they would've brought back Meagan Smith as well instead of having Montserrat Hernandez portray her. Hernandez is ok but she has done nothing to define Gwen and make her stand out in a good way. Instead, Hernandez has contributed to making Gwen at her most unlikable state and helped portray Gwen at her worst. If I was in charge of the voicing department, I wouldn't even give Hernandez a chance and would immediately focus on getting Meagan Smith back on board. I would be fine with Hernandez voicing a different character but I wouldn't let her touch Gwen.

@Tactical-Ochoa I honestly didn't like Meagen Smith all that much, her voice got quite annoying after a while and I wasn't big with Ashley Johnson either, I prefer Tara Strong voicing her to be honest, I loved her take as adult Gwen and I'm sure she can pull off a young and teenage Gwen. To bad we will not see that happen though, instead of her playing Ben probably forever with nothing new.

  • I have no problem with the new voices, it gives the series a fresh feel. I kinda want new voices for Ben and Gwen here in Brazil since Charles Emmanuel and Ana Lúcia Menezes have been voicing them since the original series. Charles is an amazing VA but sadly his voice doesn't fit young Ben anymore and Ana Lúcia is very good as well but she never bothered to make young Gwen sound like a child in first place. But going back to the voices from the original version, I have absolutely nothing against David, Montserrat and the other new VAs.

  • I wonder whether there are similar events in other countries ?

  • @Rexfan1333 I think one of the biggest problems with the reboot is the whole comedy aspect of it cuz ManOfAction are used to writing more serious shows so I think that since they made it a bit more "child friendly" they're having a hard time writing for it because it doesn't really seem like they're losing their touch its more like they're getting accustomed to writing for a younger audience

@JrPhilgene I also got the feeling Charmcaster is not going to appear. It's sad, but I hope she might come in eventually because she is my favourite character.

@Rexfan1333 she has too appear it's because of her that Gwen got her powers

@JrPhilgene True, she has to appear at some point because she's just as important to the series as Kevin and Vilgax.

@Rexfan1333 yup I do think that she won't be in as much episodes as she did in the Os but she will end up in the reboot

@JrPhilgene Yeah, I don't mind her as a minor character. Just as long as she's present in the series. I also got ideas of writing a fanfic on my take on the reboot. It will have the origin story and old and new characters returning.

@Rexfan1333 Cool. I would like to see it when its finished.

@Mortie-10 Thanks, but I will keep Ben 10 years old as well as the outfit (I like it better than his original series look), but slowly have him grow mentally and physically as the story progresses. And Julie will also appear as well as classic and new characters.

@csgt I do agree with you on Charmcaster's UAF design. Granted, as shown in the quote that you're using to respond to, that's not the point that I'm addressing here. I'm not stating that Charmcaster's UAF design looks unique overall. I'm stating that it looks better and more unique than Charmcaster's reboot design. Even though her UAF design isn't really unique on its own, is most certainly not a design that I like and favor, and doesn't even hold a candle to Charmcaster's OS design, it is a better and more visually unique design when compared to Charmcaster's reboot design, which, again, looks very much like a typical and generic Goth girl. Considering how they've handled the Ben 10 reboot so far, I doubt that they're going to make a connection between Hex and Charmcaster in the reboot. Her first name being Hope and the concept of Ledgerdomain itself are pretty much the only things related to Charmcaster in UAF that I liked. Ledgerdomain does have some nice potential and Hope sounds pretty ironic considering what Charmcaster went through with Hex before the events of the Original Series. Everything else with Charmcaster in UAF is stuff that I don't like. I most especially don't like how they handled her relationship with Hex in UAF though given that it very much conflicts with what was established with them in the OS. Granted, you do make a good point. Charmcaster, and Hex, were terribly handled and written in the sequel shows. However, when it came down to Charmcaster as a character, I really only compared the reboot Charmcaster to the OS Charmcaster because yeah, Charmcaster went through a pretty severe downgrade in the sequel shows and Charmcaster was at her best in the OS. I do have an interest in making an article about Charmcaster and analyzing her as a character, much like how I did with other characters such as Julie Yamamoto and Professor Paradox. I know for sure that this Charmcaster article is going to address the points about her in UAF that you made here.

After some thinking, I realized something that I forgot to mention. On its own and when compared to the Original Series episode, Last Laugh (considering that both episodes use the same story premise in regards to Ben dealing with his own fears), The Clocktopus is still not a good episode. It still suffers from poor writing and I mentioned other aspects of this episode that also holds it back. However, when compared to other episodes of the Ben 10 reboot show, it is a better episode. Despite the problems that I have with Steam Smythe, I still like the theme of his character and he is at least a better villain than the other villains that were showcased in the reboot. He's just an annoying villain much like with the Weatherheads and, at least to me, the writers just exaggerated a little too much to him or something of the likes. Like I said, there was some potential with this villain. Like I also said before, at least Ben's fear of squids does give him some struggle with fighting Steam Smythe and thus helps to make the conflict a little more challenging. So yeah, even though I find that the episode still had some really poor writing and the episode itself is still not good, it is better than the other episodes of the Ben 10 reboot. However, considering the quality of the other episodes of the Ben 10 reboot, that's not saying much. At best this episode is just average.
