  • Yeah, I know. It's not Ben 10 but screw it. It's Samurai Jack for crying out loud and this is the 5th and final season of it after 13 years of being on hiatus. Let's have a discussion page on it.

  • Who here has seen the premiere episode?

  • Who here has seen the premiere episode?

@Tactical-Ochoa I saw it yesterday and I loved it. Just wish Ben 10 was like that.

  • As much as I did like the Samurai Jack season 5 premiere, it seems weird talking about this on a Ben 10 fan club to me.

  • Who here has seen the premiere episode?

@Tactical-Ochoa I saw it and it was a very neat episode, It's Nice to see Jack again.

  • Do people really care about Samurai coming back

  • Man that episode was great.

  • Episode 2 came out last night. Any thoughts?

    For me, damn. Just...damn.

    @Tactical-Ochoa Man that was Epic.

  • It's really neat seeing Aku again as well. Greg Baldwin does do a good enough job with the role. The only criticism I can really give with his performance as Aku is that the voice sounds a little deeper than the original but that's just really it. Considering that the original Aku voice actor, Makoto Iwamatsu, passed away, it was clear that we're obviously not going to have the original voice back, which is a shame. Still, it was a good call to bring in Greg Baldwin since that he's pretty much the next best choice for Aku due to him taking over for Mako's other voice roles. Again, he does a good enough job making sure to make the writing work and thus still be able to make sure that Aku is still the same Aku we all know and love. Also, god that segment of the episode with Aku is freakin hilarious. I busted up.

@Tactical-Ochoa The Aku scene was the funniest scene during the whole episode.

@Mortie-10 Yeah, like I said, I busted up into laughter. It's such an Aku moment and it was great.

  • Actually something you should know
Greg plays Aku in Fusionfall as him, so technically its like he reprised his role in a way.
Also I'm so glad that Aku is still the same villain he was before, I mean despite the show has turned darker in a unique way, which we all love, Aku is still the cartoony Aku he was before... only he's just now depressed that he's still alive.

@Ebomnitrix Well, he wouldn't be Aku if that wasn't the case. If you're going to have Aku in Samurai Jack, he has to be freakin Aku.

  • What do you guys think will happen this season? I think that Jack somehow will get his sword back and fight that mysterious horse figure in the middle of the season. I also think Ashi and Jack will join forces, and maybe that wolf or whatever it was will survive and join Jack too. And I think Jack and Aku will have a showdown in episode 9 and Jack going back to the past and destroys Aku in one final battle in episode 10.

@Mortie-10 In regards to the mysterious horse figure, I don't think that's something that Jack is going to fight physically but instead mentally. I think that mysterious horse figure is just part of Jack's mental instability, symbolizing how Jack lost his ways or something. Maybe the mysterious horse figure is supposed to symbolize Jack's destiny calling back to him or something.

Maybe Ashi and Jack could team up. That's a possibility that came to mind for me. I doubt the wolf is going to survive though.

As for the final showdown, that depends. Aku mentioned that he destroyed all of the portals that lead back to the past and even Jack is aware of this. Now did Aku destroy all of them? Maybe. The one that the Guardian was protecting could still be up and both Jack and Aku aren't aware of this. Plus, Jack is destined to use that very time portal.

For me, I'm not entirely sure how this season is going to end. It could end with Jack finally returning back to the past and therefore we get more of a happy ending or he could remain stuck in the future and therefore could die after finally defeating Aku. Those are the two best directions that I thought of that they could go and it feels like this season is setting itself up for that.

  • Anyone seen episode 3? I think the episode was fantastic. I knew the wolf would survive and I really believe Ahsi will join Jack after a while now. The fight against the sisters was intense. And maybe your right Tactical Ochoa, the mysterious horse figure is most probably something Jack has to fight mentally. Overall this is the best episode I have seen so far.

@Mortie-10 Well, look at that. The wolf did survive after all. Nice. And hold up there buddy. There's still 7 more episodes left. Who knows what's nest that they have planned in store for us.

  • So I looked up the Daughters of Aku and apparently Tara Strong voiced Ashi and Avi while Kari Dahlgren voiced Ami and Aki.

  • Im looking forward too see The Scotsman again.

@Tactical-Ochoa I read the series about a year ago and I must say that it is incredibly well written especially considering that it is a fanfiction. While I’m personally not a Bwen shipper (I always saw their relationship akin to a bond between close siblings) the entire Little Moments universe is incredibly well written and there are little things in it which just contribute so much to the narrative (eg. Ben’s relationship with his parents, something I really thought should’ve been explored in Alien Force). I’ve been thinking for a while about starting on a fan comic exploring an alternate timeline of the events of Alien Force. The Highbreed arc would still happen similarly and Ben would have to don the Omnitrix for the first time in years. There would be a few differences though - the first of which being that I’d try and explore the possibilities of Charmcaster being the one to (at first grudgingly) have to work with Ben and Gwen but eventually softening and becoming a better person over time despite being haunted by her past. I always thought that it would be an interesting idea to have Kevin as a vigilante or even a villain - I’ve been reading some Batman comics recently and I really think that Ben and Kevin could have an interesting Batman-Joker dynamic between them. One of the key themes of Alien Force was meant to be Ben becoming leader but he didn’t really have a proper team to lead for the majority of the time, so I thought that involving Cooper and Alan in the story could work well - with the other Plumber’s kids being introduced later down the line. I’m not a super talented artist (though I can draw decently and have done a few concept sketches ) and while I have written decent short stories for fun before this would be way tougher. Everything is just ideas and brainstorms right now given that I don’t have too much time on my hands at the moment.. Just thought that I’d share the idea.

@Rexfan1333 That's another thing. I don't hate the reboot's art style either. I just don't like it and I just give it a lot of criticism. With Cartoon Network, we're now at a point where this is just unacceptable because like you said, Cartoon Network's reasons for wanting to go for these types of art styles is bullshit and they and their artists and animators are really just being cheap and lazy here. Like I said, it likely won't even matter that much to many if the story and writing is at least going to be good because the artwork and animation quality alone can turn many viewers away from the reboot. Having a strong story and writing is very much important but so is having some great quality artwork and animations. Artwork that can set the stage for the settings, environments, characters, etc. Animations that can deliver on many of the scenes that we're going to be seeing here. How are viewers supposed to be able to get invested with Ben developing as a character when he looks like crap? How are viewers going to be able to get invested in Ben's aliens if at least some of them look ugly and/or don't even look that much alien at all? How are any of the action scenes going to be good and memorable if the animation quality doesn't back them up? Yes I know we haven't seen any action scenes yet. It's just a point that I want to make. Overall, if they're going to have a strong and memorable story, setting, characters, scenes, etc, then they need to be able to be backed up well by a good quality art style and animations. Otherwise, there would be a chance that things can fall flat pretty badly. Just imagine Young Justice and Legend of Korra looking like the Ben 10 reboot or the PPG reboot or Teen Titans Go! or Clarence. Imagine Young Justice and Legend of Korra having the lower quality animation work that Cartoon Network Studios is being more known of making. Even with a strong story and characters and all that stuff, those two shows would fall flat pretty badly. Imagine the Ben 10 Original Series having this type of art style and/or this quality of animations. We would more likely not be looking up to the Original Series as much as we did back then and still do and Ben 10 would more likely not have been able to be as successful as it was back then. Omniverse had some good story aspects and moments to it but the art style and animation quality doesn't help to hold those good story aspects and moments up that well. I previously thought that story, writing, characters and all that stuff are more important than visuals but really the visuals of a show, movie, video game, etc are really just as equally important. Everything needs to be able to work and blend together seamlessly and very well. If one of those seams hits a snag and breaks, chances are that everything can fall apart either quickly or eventually. Just something that I want to point out. A strong story is very much important but just as equally so does that apply to having strong visuals and animations as well.

Well, unfortunately, just like before, Fullerton wasn't able to provide anything. Also, she said that she's not involved with the Ben 10 reboot. Well at least not yet as she said. At least it was worth a try though.
