The dragon from Be-Knighted

I have been thinking, in the S01E11 episode "Be-Knighted" of Alien Force, there was a dragon who had his translator box broken. When Ben was near him, the Omnitrix did not scan its DNA so I am wondering: does the Omnitrix already have the dragon DNA and it just wasn't unlocked by Ben already? The episode confirms that the dragon is an alien and the Omnitrix automatically scans every unknown alien DNA.

@XLR8 The original Omnitrix doesn't automatically scan unknown DNA. Ben has to set the Omnitrix to Scan Mode. In the Original Series, when the Omnitrix is set to Scan Mode, DNA is collected when the alien that's being scanned comes in direct contact with the Omnitrix itself.

@XLR8 well yeah the omnitrix has every alien in the milky way galaxy which ia why the omnitrix scans the anur system and andromeda aliens.

@Tactical-Ochoa I think it does: (these are youtube links) watch?v=uwdnWgGBsxw and watch?v=-7vqPSgjDJ8 (I know he could have set the Omnitrix to Scan Mode before, but if he did then the Omnitrix display should've been yellow and should have scanned it already, before Zs'Skayr went into Ben's body). @XLR8 Yeah no. I looked back at the Benwolf episode and the Scan Mode was activated because the Yenaldooshi scratched the Omnitrix, causing it to get stuck in both Scan Mode and Active Mode, which is why Ben transformed into Benwolf more slowly. Either way, Scan Mode was activated manually.
As for the first clip that you posted, Scan Mode would have most likely been activated manually from Dr. Viktor unintentionally. Dr. Viktor grabbed Ben by the wrist, thus touching the Omnitrix. Considering that the Yenaldooshi unintentionally manually activated the Omnitrix's Scan Mode, I'd say that the same thing happened with Dr. Viktor as well. You also have to factor in Ben's constant fiddling with the Omnitrix, which caused the watch to act up often, which could further explain the unintentional manual activations of the Scan Mode. Azmuth was even pissed off at Ben for treating the Omnitrix like a toy when I believe they first met in Secret of the Omnitrix. Either way, Scan Mode was not activated automatically but instead manually for both instances.
Now we get to the Alien Force clip that you posted. With all the changes and screw ups with the continuity that were made, did you really expect that McDuffie and Murikami got that scene with Zs'Skayr in Alien Force right. How about I explain everything that's wrong with that scene. As mentioned before, the Omnitrix does not automatically scan DNA. Scan Mode has to be manually activated in order for the Omnitrix to be able to scan DNA and since that the dial on the Omnitrix is not yellow, Scan Mode is not activated so Zs'Skayr's DNA shouldn't have been scanned at all. Now let's go back to the episode in the Original Series called Ghostfreaked Out. There is a scene in that episode where the moment Zs'Skayr made the attempt to possess Ben, the Omnitrix instantly charged itself and transformed Ben into Grey Matter as a security measure to protect Ben from being possessed by Zs'Skayr since that Zs'Skayr can't possess Ben when he is in one of his alien forms. Because of this feature in the Omnitrix, the scene with Ben letting Zs'Skayr possess him to regain Ghostfreak should not have gone the way it was portrayed in. Instead, the way that scene should've actually happened would be for Ben, in one of his alien forms, looking like an absolute idiot for forgetting the Omnitrix's security measure that would turn Ben into one of his aliens and thus as a result immediately kick Zs'Skayr out of his body. That is one of the most major problems with Alien Force and Ultimate Alien. Because McDuffie, and likely Murikami, did not watch the Original Series when making Alien Force, they knew very little of what they were actually doing with the Ben 10 series. It's either that or they were aware of these very established facts with the Original Series but were either too lazy, ignorant, and/or arrogant to even bother about them. Therefore, there is a lot that the Ben 10 sequels got very much wrong about the series and this scene is an example of that.
Overall, if Ben wants the Omnitrix to scan DNA into the watch itself and gain new alien forms, he has to manually activate Scan Mode. The two scenes that show the Yenaldooshi and Dr. Viktor that you mentioned and video linked show Scan Mode on the Omnitrix being manually activated. As for the Zs'Skayr clip that you posted, that is not how the scene is supposed to be portrayed in the way that we saw it as. simply because of how the episode Ghostfreaked Out established the Omnitrix's security measure that protects Ben from becoming possessed by Zs'Skayr.

@Ben-Tennyson I'm not some sort of newbie, I've seen every episode from every Ben 10 series so of course I know. Ben did not have Master Control in the episodes that I mentioned nor did he knew how to unlock it. In OS it was activated accidentally and it only worked for one episode."I said Ripjaws, not Accelerate, stupid watch"

@XLR8 Yes, Ben forgot to scan the dragon, which I'd say is a good thing because well I don't think many people would want to see Ben running around as some generic looking dragon for one of his aliens. There's not much use that Ben would have with this alien as well considering all of his other much better options.

If so, wasn't the security measure actually established in OS S02E07 (Camp Fear)? He unlocked Wildvine when he was captured by mushrooms/plants or something, exactly what he needed to survive. Now that I think about it, unlocking Cannonbolt a few episodes back was just what he needed to defeat the Great One, although that was before his life was in danger, therefore not related to the security measure, am I right?

@XLR8 Wow. Been a long time since I commented about that. Almost a year. Man time flies by.
I guess that would be correct. Granted, I'm veering more on Ben just being lucky with the Omnitrix. Ben fiddling with the Omnitrix was what led to him eventually unlocking the Master Control. In The Big Tick, Ben and Gwen were messing with the Omnitrix so that Ben could transform into XLR8 to go get some other food since that Max's strange taste was sparking up again. That led to Ben unlocking Cannonbolt. The same pretty much happened in Camp Fear as well when Ben was messing with the Omnitrix again trying to transform into an alien in order to escape captivity. He wasn't entirely in danger in that scene either. Both Ben and Max were just captured yet relatively in a..."safe" location but they did have to get out fast. Both times this happened, Ben activated the Omnitrix manually as well. The security measure in Ghostfreaked Out activated automatically. So thinking more about it now, I don't think Ben unlocking Cannonbolt and Wildvine was of the result of the security measure but really just Ben messing with the Omnitrix as usual and therefore getting lucky out of that. Much like, again, when Ben was lucky enough to activate the Master Control.
It's not like Grey Matter was really the best option to fight Zs'Skayr with anyways and Ben knew that too, which was why he ran away. Often enough, when the Omnitrix mis-transformed Ben, it did transform him into the wrong alien for certain situations. Ben 4 Good Buddy being one obvious example when the Omnitrix transformed Ben into Ripjaws...in the desert. An obviously bad choice to use to fight the Road Crew. The Omnitrix didn't pick the best alien to combat Zs'Skayr. It just randomly picked a alien to protect Ben. It was up to Ben at that point to use what he got to gain the upper hand or to at least survive. The Omnitrix didn't pick the right alien for Ben to use for him. As the Original Series established, the Omnitrix just randomly transforms Ben into any of the aliens when it malfunctions and when the security measure activates. Whether or not Ben gets the alien that he wants, it up to him to decide how to best use those very aliens to gain the upper hand in combat.
