  • I'm calmer now. but upset.

  • It seems at this point, the writers only care about one thing.

  • money. just....they only want money.

  • @tactical-ochoa Lovely, just lovely...

  • this is a situation that really just highlights what the series is all about. They confirm these seasons before a season can even start, so they can quickly roll out more episodes so they can keep the ball rolling and KEEP MAKING THINGS THAT THEY CAN SELL.

  • Honestly, I don't care if the reboot continues as long as they have another show around that is true to the original timeline. Right now what they are doing makes no sense, they are only profiting off of one audience when there is a larger, more profitable audience to be had if they made a true Ben 10 show.

  • I don't think MOA sees the series the way us fans do. They see it as a cash cow, something that will bring in the numbers. Us fans see it as a chance to tell great stories.

    @offbeatcat I don't know how much control MOA has over what they produce. Don't get me wrong I'm sure they are fine with the reboot making them tons of money. With that being said I don't think they want to produce a bad show.

    @cooljay7 Part of me thinks that they don't care about the quality of the reboot. If they really don't want to produce a bad show, good. The issue is that whatever they're trying to do doesn't seem to be translating well into their recent works. It feels like that they're so out of touch with their fans and audience and whatnot. Or maybe they really don't care about their works. I think it's one of the two. Either way, if Man of Action really does care about making good quality shows, they're not doing a good job showing that and I'm really losing my trust in them.

    @tactical-ochoa I'm wondering if they have control over the reboot or if Cartoon Network is the one calling the shots.

    @cooljay7 Apparently, before the premiere of the reboot, I think it was Duncan Rouleau who said that Man of Action had the most creative control with the Ben 10 reboot compared to the Original Series. Granted, I didn't really buy into that because this is Cartoon Network after all. Whether or not that's really the case, I still very much see that Cartoon Network are the ones that are really calling the shots. Apparently, from what I recall, Man of Action also came out saying how the Ben 10 reboot was the Ben 10 show that they wanted the Original Series to be, which holds more merit considering that they're taking stuff from the pre-concepts and integrating them into the reboot, such as Stinkfly's reboot design and apparently I heard that Kevin was supposed to have his own Omnitrix in the Original Series, yet they don't seem to take into account of WHY these pre-concepts never made it into the final version of the Original Series.

  • Maybe because they were still trying to get their footing and weren't expecting to make a masterpiece at first try with OS, so they didn't make it too complicated because the show was still at the start of a franchise and things weren't expected to be too big?

    @tactical-ochoa Yeah I can't see Cartoon Network letting them do whatever they want. What I really don't understand is how Cartoon Network went from a network that about 10 years ago primarily produced action shows to what they are today.

    @ungrateful-wolf Nice theory. I have a better one. Those pre-concepts didn't make it into the OS because they knew it wouldn't work for the show and the reboot is proof that those very pre-concept elements (like Stinkfly's design and Kevin having his own Omnitrix) indeed don't work.

    @cooljay7 I say pretty much the same reason as why companies like Activision and EA went so downhill with the quality of their games. Greed. They got greedy. Regardless, I think Man of Action still has enough say on the Ben 10 reboot to hold them accountable for the abysmal quality that they produced; especially considering how they came out saying that the reboot was the show that they wanted the OS to be and considering how plenty of their other recent TV works since Ultimate Spider-Man aren't really up to good standards of quality. To me, they just seem so out of touch with their fans and audience and have lost their touch in their work. I said this plenty of times before. Man of Action is like the George Lucas of Ben 10 right now. I want to see them do good but I'm really losing my trust, patience, and credibility towards them because of stuff like this freakin reboot.

  • The names for some of Kevin's other aliens have been revealed.
    Four Arms = Quad Smack
    Rath = Bashmouth
    Diamondhead = Black Ice
    And we knew that Wreckingbolt = Cannonbolt and Heatblast = Hot Shot.
    I'm just amazed at how bad some of these names are. I thought that Hot Shot and Wreckingbolt were good but Quad Smack for Kevin's Four Arms is just awful. Same goes for Black Ice. Since when is Diamondhead an alien with ice powers? Even Bashmouth isn't a good name.

    @cooljay7 That's because Kevin's aliens are all based on band and music names.
    Quad Smack = SMACK (finnish band)
    Bashmouth = Smash Mouth (band)
    Black Ice = Black Eyed Peas (band)
    Wreckingbolt = Wrecking Ball (song by Miley Cyrus)
    Hot Shot = Hotshot (band)

    You'll notice Ben himself has two reboot original aliens with that theme naming too: Shock Rock (music genre) and Slapback (sound term).

    For Black Ice, let's be honest, we all heard the complaint that Diamondhead's powers in the reboot looked too much like ice powers at least once. The writers acknowledged that and used it to name Diamondhead's copy.
    Also, as mutated Kevin's aliens can be, I really don't feel Bashmouth is an Appoplexian. He looks more like a werewolf like Blitzwolfer than a tiger or any anthropomorphic feline. (I do believe he is Rath's rival tho)

  • here's my theory: MOA is in more control then we credit, but i think different people are running this show, and those people just kinda skimmed the old stuff, probably eyeballing concept art and saying: "yeah, we can do that."

  • I'll be honest, I feel like they're more taking old unused ideas, or unusually strange ideas, and sometimes saying "sure, why the hell not?" Not in a negative way, a neutral one.

    @ungrateful-wolf I dunno man, everything seems to circle back to selling toys.

    @offbeatcat Yeah they are definitely making decisions that will make it easier to market toys to kids. With that being said the quality of the figures for the reboot (made by Playmates toys) are much higher than the quality of the Bandai figures.

    @Rexfan1333 You mentioned the MCU, and I actually had an idea to write a fanfic about Ben 10 in the MCU. The Omnitrix would have one of the infinity stones (just like Loki's Scepter had one) and Gwen would be an Inhuman (if you watch Agents of SHIELD, which is also set in the MCU, you will understand what I'm talking about). I thought about starting from Age of Ultron, replacing Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch with Ben and Gwen. But ultimately I decided to write Watch Boy & Lucky Girl because mixing MCU characters would require more skill and talent than I have at the moment. But as I said, I'm talking about real possibilities, and unfortunately, I don't think Ben 10 with Marvel is a realistic possibility. And of course, in my comic book reboot idea Ben and Gwen wouldn't be kids, they would be at least teenagers.

    Its like they're trying to take what little Ben 10 fanbase has left, like legit we need a place to express our opinions and everything for the show. So if this site goes, then so does one of its groups of remaining fandom it has left, aside Ben10FanFiction.

    @Rexfan1333 That's another thing. I don't hate the reboot's art style either. I just don't like it and I just give it a lot of criticism. With Cartoon Network, we're now at a point where this is just unacceptable because like you said, Cartoon Network's reasons for wanting to go for these types of art styles is bullshit and they and their artists and animators are really just being cheap and lazy here. Like I said, it likely won't even matter that much to many if the story and writing is at least going to be good because the artwork and animation quality alone can turn many viewers away from the reboot. Having a strong story and writing is very much important but so is having some great quality artwork and animations. Artwork that can set the stage for the settings, environments, characters, etc. Animations that can deliver on many of the scenes that we're going to be seeing here. How are viewers supposed to be able to get invested with Ben developing as a character when he looks like crap? How are viewers going to be able to get invested in Ben's aliens if at least some of them look ugly and/or don't even look that much alien at all? How are any of the action scenes going to be good and memorable if the animation quality doesn't back them up? Yes I know we haven't seen any action scenes yet. It's just a point that I want to make. Overall, if they're going to have a strong and memorable story, setting, characters, scenes, etc, then they need to be able to be backed up well by a good quality art style and animations. Otherwise, there would be a chance that things can fall flat pretty badly. Just imagine Young Justice and Legend of Korra looking like the Ben 10 reboot or the PPG reboot or Teen Titans Go! or Clarence. Imagine Young Justice and Legend of Korra having the lower quality animation work that Cartoon Network Studios is being more known of making. Even with a strong story and characters and all that stuff, those two shows would fall flat pretty badly. Imagine the Ben 10 Original Series having this type of art style and/or this quality of animations. We would more likely not be looking up to the Original Series as much as we did back then and still do and Ben 10 would more likely not have been able to be as successful as it was back then. Omniverse had some good story aspects and moments to it but the art style and animation quality doesn't help to hold those good story aspects and moments up that well. I previously thought that story, writing, characters and all that stuff are more important than visuals but really the visuals of a show, movie, video game, etc are really just as equally important. Everything needs to be able to work and blend together seamlessly and very well. If one of those seams hits a snag and breaks, chances are that everything can fall apart either quickly or eventually. Just something that I want to point out. A strong story is very much important but just as equally so does that apply to having strong visuals and animations as well.

    @chronosapien234 Yes, true. The Circus Freaks were important with his plan. However, that's just because they're villainous henchmen characters. Even without Zombozo, the Circus Freaks still end up temporarily as the henchmen to another villain. You know, Ghostfreak. Pretty much almost every time we've seen the Circus Freaks, they are serving somebody. Mostly Zombozo. They're just villainous henchmen characters. They helped but they're not really all that important. In fact, I believe that there pretty much wouldn't be a difference at all if they aren't around. Why? Because, again, they're henchmen. They're also basic thugs, too. The Circus Freaks are not that important. Also, this is about Zombozo as a character and villain. What makes Zombozo who he is. Why he is like that. How he executes his plans. What makes Zombozo as Zombozo and he doesn't need the Circus Freaks for that. That is another out of the many problems with Omniverse and even the other sequels. The Original Series was able to do things that not many cartoon shows ever did. The Original Series did something new. The sequels were generic and typical cartoon shows. They barely did anything new if nothing new at all. That episode in Omniverse with Zombozo turning everyone in Bellwood into zombie clowns. If it was a nod to the Original Series, it failed at trying to delivery and do something unique and impressive. No instead, it ended up being another terrible episode due to Ben regaining his fear of clowns and one major plot hole that really ruined that episode, let alone the sheer cartoonish stupidity of it. Does nobody remember that Zombozo and the Circus Freaks are villains? Does nobody remember what they've done in the past? Oh, Ben regained his fear of clowns, huh? Thanks for making Ben conquering his fears in the Original Series pointless now, Cartoon Network. As for the plot hole, ask yourself this question? Those toy teeth that turn people into zombie clowns. Yeah, how is it that those teeth can bite through Plumber armor and hazmat suits let alone BASIC CLOTHING? They're plastic toy teeth. Is Plumber armor really that terrible and not that protective? I thought Stormtrooper armor was bad enough. Plumber armor is even worse. That one plot hole alone makes that entire episode freakin stupid and terrible. It shows how poor and lazy the writing, structuring, and designing of the sequels are. I know it's a cartoon show but again, it needs to make sense and needs to be understandable enough to work.
