@admin the live action got put on hold because the producer joel silver left warner brothers and went to universal. But warners brothers owns the property so they had to put the movie on hold.

Ben and gwen had very odd subtext for cousins when the first series aired back then. People shipped the cousins because of that said subtext back then. Also as many people pointed out during pre production they weren't related and the creators changed that at the last minute because cartoon network thought it was weird to have a unrelated girl travel with an old grandpa and a young boy for so long. It also really dosen't help that the original series creators forgot to remove all the subtext completely and only make slight tweaks then call it "cousin love".

I remember watching the episode benwolf the subtext really showed there and kai felt more like a romantic false lead. If the writers wanted to fix this mess, man of action should have really revised the script and rewrote the script from scratch even if the show was gonna get delayed a bit ether that or the sequal series acknowledges that something might have been there between ben and gwen but have them move on to someone else because its wrong to date family. And put a lot of effort and consistent development towards the non ben and gwen ship.

I saw this show when i was in middle school when i first watched it the concept of a kid turning into a superpowered alien interest me. I thought this superhero show was pretty original since it wasent based on marvel or dc comics. Also while watching the show time to time i noticed the weird subtext between ben and gwen and was freaked out as a kid. I remember going to youtube and saw a lot of people commenting on the subtext and making incest jokes about. What really freak me out was when one promo showed gwen being jealous of ben when he was walking with another girl. For awhile this creeped me out until i found out that ben and gwen weren't suppose to related at first and gwen was switched to be his cousin at the last minute because the creators couldn't find a good reason why a unrelated girl would travel with ben and his grandpa for so long and they forgot to remove all that subtext after the switch was made. Now my opinions soften as time went on and i ship it even if other ships became canon.

Im not much of a fan of the sequel series it had to much retcons and ben and gwen felt occ in alien force and ultimate alien. I only watched a few episodes of alien force and quit because thats when it really lost my interest.

As for the new reboot i feel like its avarage at best. I wished it was a much better reboot that dosen't follow the recent cartoon trend these days.

I got myself the new omnitrix and a ben Tennyson figure. I wished i got the old ones from back then but now there pretty expensive on ebay.

I asked them about On whether if ben will grow up they said they prefer ben being ten forever so it can appeal and relate towards kids. Then When i told them about if they can consider the squeals to be canon they said in a way it is but at the same it could be alternate universe thing. When i asked one of creators about how poorly handled gwens character was handled in the squeal series he told me he was also disappointed about how too girly she is and too much of a damsel in distress she is. In the original series they always intended They wanted to make grandpa less generic by having him be a secret plummer and same goes with gwen being not just a love interest and damsel. They did give other sequel writers approval even if they weren't completely involved in the sequel series.

Theres one thing they said that came off as controversial when i asked this other question. It was about the bwen ship apparently when i asked about gwen originality being a unrelated classmate. Steven the creator replied saying the creators never intended ben and gwen to be unrelated classmates. And duncan when later meeting him told me the same thing but also told me that they were suppose to be brother and sister in the original pitch but cartoon network scrapped that idea because they didn't want a too close familial relationship so man of action changed them to cousins. This kinda confused me because every single source i found says that man of action originally intended ben and gwen to be unrelated classmates. I even remember watching a old ben 10 dvd commentary interview stating that gwen was suppose to be a classmate. I told them about how every single source i find states this. They told me that its nothing but mis information that fans spread. And duncan is aware of the weird porn art with ben and gwen they even had fans coming up to them admitting they wished ben and gwen would have gotten together and thought not all interactions they had came off as familial.

They did mention that it took 2 longs years to develop the show so lot of the ideas could have changed. And just because they were consulting the original show, they wren't show runners since they have a habit of working for a show for only a year before moving on to other shows.

I also got a art sketch of ben and gwen and signing from both creators.

I don't think ben and gwen is weird I could understand why , Like many sources and ben 10 trivia that aired back then said ben and gwen weren't related at first. The left over subtext after changing gwen into bens cousin made the pairing taboo and then made uncomfortable to ship to a lot of people.

Its like what happened in star wars with luke and leia they also weren't related until the last film. Luke and leia was a pretty popular ship back then until the sister reveal happened. thats what made the pairing icky and awkward.

It not like writers always intended incest they just made poor writing choice sometimes that leads into incest vibes.

I don't mind the ship since its fiction But i wished they handled things better maybe people wouldn't have a huge icky vibes towards it.

@car54 I doubt a proper sequel series to the original show would be made. Man of action just dosen't seem to care about proper continutity as long as there show is watchable for kids they will stick to whatever ideas come to ther mind as long as it entertain kids. Also there reboot is clearly for next generation of kids and not older fans like us. As for bwen the creators at new york comic con told me that Gwen was never an unrelated classmate and they always intended ben and gwen to be family of some sort. But i have a hard time beliving that... In the show they had moments were they subtly flirt.

What does animated adventures mean there making another cartoon for ben 10?

I asked man of actions questions and they told me that ben 10 main audience is kids, that could explain why many things comes off as more childish. As for episodic nature thats because of the recent trend of cartoon network a lot of the shows are goofy and comedic they just follow that trend. Im okay with reboot i just see as it what it is and man of action isn't planning to change that format. Also i really love the new evolution design its cool. My favorite is heatblast and overflows new evolution design.

As for charm-caster and Kevin returning man of action aren't allowed to say anything about it they just said keep watching the show.

@ultraalien That was one episode were they mention about ben and gwen being born the same days. But many other episodes still had weird unrelated family vibes to it.

Man of action in the past has the tendency to say controversal stuff in the past so i wouldnt be surprised if they made up excuses of the odd subtext and say that it was never there despite what was shown.

@tactical-ochoa to me there hiding something and dont want to tell the actual truth which i find very odd. Maybe telling the truth might upset fans even more? They are aware many bwen shippers have asked them about the subtext there okay with people shipping it but its completely fanon to them.

you dont even need to watch the dvd commentary to know about the odd subtext its there in the show. I go by what was shown and not what was said.

i dont have the dvd with me but i did watch it a long time ago on youtube before it was taken down. you could watch it yourself.
