Interview with Yuri Lowenthal about Ben10/Fallout 4
-
@Omni-Triforcer Well I believe I mentioned in the past that Tara Strong could try voicing an older teenage Ben (I don't remember if I did mention it on this site). If not Tara Strong, maybe Maile Flanagan since that she english dub voiced Naruto in the Naruto series.
-
@Tactical-Ochoa I think having Maile doing Ben would be pretty interesting. Also I heard on 4chan that Jacob Hopkins (Voice of Gumball) is doing Ben in this reboot, but I think it's just a rumor.
I had some interesting choices of voices for Ben.
Teen Ben and Kid Ben: Jeremy Shada
Ben 10,ooo: Josh Keaton
Eon: Josh Keaton
I think they could pull them off, but that's just my choices.
-
Sucks we might not get Yuri back, but wish him luck on his other projects. (Love his take on Spider-Man)
-
@Rexfan1333 Jacob Hopkins voicing Ben could just be a rumor since that Tara Strong announced on Twitter that she's coming back for the Ben 10 reboot. Although I don't think it's 100% confirmed that she's going to voice Ben though.
-
@Tactical-Ochoa Yeah, I'm not sure if she'll come back for Ben and want her to play someone else (Maybe or Maybe not), if not I hope she might do Gwen or Charmcaster though.
-
@Rexfan1333 Going back to that short 10 second clip from Annecy 2016, even though Tara Strong stated on Twitter that she's returning to voice a role in the Ben 10 reboot, there's still a part of me that thinks that she's not going to voice Ben. Yeah all we heard Ben say from that short clip was "hut hut hike" and I know that's not much but it's still something to interpret off of. It still doesn't sound like Ben. His voice in the reboot still sounds a little too high pitched compared to Tara's typical Ben voice. It's either they're having Tara give a higher pitch in Ben's voice or that really wasn't Tara Strong voicing Ben and that they have someone else voice Ben while Tara Strong is voicing a different character. Again it's not much though and I would like to hear more of Ben's voice in the reboot so that I'm able to give a better analysis. Come to think of it, just based on those very three words that Ben says in that clip, he does sound closer to Jacob Hopkins than Tara Strong.
-
If Jacob is voicing Ben, then I'm cool with it. His voice is nice! But I'm curious if we'll get Gumball's VA in the Brazilian dub too. João Victor Granja's voice is quite similar to Jacob's.
-
I believe it was revealed in a couple articles that she is voicing ben
-
@Omni-Triforcer I went back and checked numerous articles and one said that it's not confirmed that Tara Strong will voice Ben while another said that it is confirmed. That's pretty much the thing that people do need to be careful when it comes to news articles. They're not 100% reliable. There are going to be times where they state the wrong information. Articles are a great way of gathering information but it certainly doesn't beat receiving information straight out of the horses mouth.
-
In a tweet she said: "so excited 2 put that watch back on".

Tara Strong is definitely voicing Ben. -
Yeah thats what i was thinking also.
-
@admin That's what I'm hoping to very much be the case.
-
It's great she's coming back, but it would have been better to have someone else voice Ben in my opinion, I can think a lot of better voice actors that can pull off his character honestly, I kinda want a more realistic take on Ben than a cartoony one (I just feel her boy voices are too cartoony honestly)
-
@Rexfan1333 too cartoon huh? Well we wouldn't want a cartoon to be to cartoony now would we. Just based off the artwork I can tell they don't care about it being to cartoony.
Also we wouldn't want them to go the PPG route and get voice actors that are unfit to play those characters. -
@Omni-Triforcer Even a cartoon show can end up being too cartoony and yes, that can indeed be an issue that can affect a cartoon show in a negative way.
-
@Omni-Triforcer I know it's a cartoon, but I don't want it to be to unrealistic and not like a Saturday Morning Cartoon, Voltron is one of those reboots that has done what a reboot should do, I just hope the Ben 10 reboot does the same and have some drama and character development. Also, I have nothing against Tara coming back, but kinda wished she let someone else do Ben (I like her female character voices better than her males honestly, the sound natural and awesome)

First off its not like she went to cartoon network begging for the job they wanted her to play ben 10 again so she did if they didn't they would have gotten someone else. And why would she say no to a paying job playing a character that she loved playing. She didn't let someone else play ben cartoon network did it was their choice.

@Omni-Triforcer CN is doing a reboot wrong then, it's got to be different, but still retain what makes it Ben 10, even finding new actors (the PPG reboot had a decent idea, but they didn't match which made it bad), it seems like every reboot CN is mostly doing this for money and nostalgia. Voltron did great because it had things that made different, but still the same Voltron. I'm hoping Ben 10 will be better with this reboot and not flop like CNs other crappy mistakes.
-
@Rexfan1333 Well I agree that CN is doing a reboot wrong since that I previously stated that the Ben 10 reboot isn't really a reboot but in actuality is really a remake of the Original Series. I also agree that, yes, CN is actually making this reboot of Ben 10 because they want to exploit the show's nostalgia to sell more toys and get more money. However, in regards to voice actors, I don't want different voice actors for a show just because it's a reboot and therefore it has to have different voice actors. If I were in charge of an animated show, I want the most suitable, fitting, affordable, and qualified voice actors for that show. If I were in charge of the next Ben 10 show, well first off I wouldn't be making this reboot, I would go for making the sequel to the Original Series that Man of Action intended to make. Second, I would rather have the original cast, including and most especially Tara Strong, Meagan Smith, and Paul Eiding as Ben, Gwen, and Max respectively, come back to reprise their roles because I know for a fact that they are the most qualified voice actors for that very show because they had previously voiced these characters in past Ben 10 shows and did an outstanding job at it. I would make the effort to try and bring back the original cast for the next Ben 10 show because of this very reason. Jacob Hopkins, Jeremy Shada, Josh Keaton (who did voice Tim Dean and Hector, two minor characters in the Original Series and did voice Peter Parker in The Spectacular Spider-Man and yes, I know that Keaton is your pick for Ben 10,000 and not kid and teen Ben) are good choices for voicing Ben but by the end of the day, I would pick Tara Strong over everyone else. She has proved every time in the entire Ben 10 franchise that she is the best choice for providing the voice for Ben. Nobody else (not even Yuri Lowenthal) has done a better job with voicing Ben than Strong did. Hell, in one episode of Omniverse, when Ben was aged back to his younger self by Billy Billions, I actually wished that Ben stayed that way for the rest of Omniverse because I preferred Tara Strong over Yuri Lowenthal as the voice of Ben because she is the better voice actor for Ben. Just because this is a reboot doesn't mean that we should have different voice actors. When it comes to any show, it's not about finding different sets of voice actors just because there are going to be changes. It's about finding the most qualified and affordable voice actors. This is why I'm still ticked off that CN got new voice actors for the Powerpuff Girls. Just because the new VAs are young and energetic doesn't make them the most qualified. I rather prefer the original PPG voice actresses because they are the most qualified due to their past experiences voicing these characters and they can be negotiated to do their roles at a fair and affordable price. Again, it's not about changes and being different. It's much more about quality. I better stop this comment here now because it's already a little too long than it's supposed to be but that's the point that I want to make across.
-
@Rexfan1333 One more thing that I forgot to mention. If Tara Strong wasn't able to voice Ben and I can't convince her to reprise that very role, then I would go ahead and find someone else that's qualified to voice Ben.
