Artwork and a New Alien
-
well if you want me to be honest, I would say that the new artwork makes the aliens look a little better
-
@chronosapien234 Ok. I'm fine with your opinion then. I don't agree with it but I'm fine with it. To me, the reboot art design doesn't look bad but it is not suitable and fitting for Ben 10. It doesn't look bad but it doesn't look good either. The flash art approach of this design is not going to work with this show and its elements. If you like it, that's fine but most fans don't like this reboot art design and are even negative towards it. Not even Man of Action likes this reboot and wants to make it. As I stated in chat, Man of Action agrees with me. They don't want to make this reboot. They don't like the approach that's being taken. If the creators of Ben 10 don't like this reboot themselves and agree with my argument, then that will just further factor into the likelihood that this reboot will fail.
-
I agree tactical the style would not fit ben 10
-
Exactly and here's another thing. While I am willing to take chronosapien234's words on the information of the artwork for the reboot and credit him for the info until I see the artwork myself (either from him or anyone else), I'm still not giving a full 100% confirmation that this information about the artwork is true. It's highly likely to be true and it does sound right for the reboot but I'm still not granting a full 100% confirmation. I would still encourage anyone that reads this topic page to take the information with a grain of salt. To announce the information to others but at the same time warn them of the possibilities that this information of the artwork is false. I'm not trying to be mean here. That is just how I operate when it comes to information and news. I don't accept this as confirmed until I get something that officially confirms the information. If chronosapien234 doesn't want to show the artwork, that's fine but again, I'm not giving it a full confirmation. In regards to the reboot artwork, I need to see it for myself to know whether or not it's actually true and right.
-
That is what I am doing I am taking the info with a salt shaker just I don't really want to get my hopes up
-
@KorseBLI-ND There is a high chance that this information about the artwork is true but it's just not a full 100% yet. Just exercise caution with it yet still be optimistic. That's really all I want to recommend that people should do.
-
Okay will do
-
I am telling you that it is the truth!!!
-
@chronosapien234 Dude, again, I'm willing to take your word for it but just saying that the information is true is not enough. Until I see the artwork for myself (again, either from you or another source), I'm not giving a full 100% confirmation that it is true. Saying that it is true is not enough for me and therefore, I am just going to notify people to be cautious of your info and inform and warn them that there is a possibility that the info isn't true. That is just how I am. Until I see the actual official artwork from someone, I am not giving a full 100% confirmation that your information is true. That is just how I am. If anyone else believes that your info is true, then that's fine with me because that's their choice. Me, I'm just being cautious yet optimistic here.

@chronosapien234 You know what, I missed one more thing that I wanted to ask you about. You say that the reboot artwork looks cooler and makes the aliens look a little better. Why? Why does the new artwork for the reboot look cooler that the art design of the Original Series? Why does making the aliens look more human in the reboot make them look a little better when compared to their designs in the Original Series? Why? Why do you think that the reboot art design is better than that of the Original Series?
Again, I'm fine if you like the reboot artwork better. I just want to know why. Don't just give me a "just because" answer either. Be a critic. Be an analyzer. Build your argument. Think carefully on your response and answer.
What I would also like to know is that since you like the reboot artwork better than the Original Series art design, how does the flash art approach to the reboot's art design prove to be better than the western animation used for the Original Series that was based off of Japanese anime? How is flash art better than western anime? Feel free to read my response to GoodVibes1999 where I argue why western anime is better to use for Ben 10 than flash art and again, think carefully and thoroughly on building your argument up.
Take your time and I don't mind if your response is long. Even if I disagree with you, at least I will have a better understanding of your views.
-
To be honest, I think that the new artwork kind of does what our animation did to original pokemon.
-
@chronosapien234 Pokemon? What do you mean by that and what does Pokemon have to do with Ben 10? Can you please further explain this if you can?
-
@chronosapien234 So are you saying that you like the Ben 10 Reboot artwork because it looks like the Pokemon cartoon show?
-
No @Tactical-Ochoa , I am saying that the new series makes things look more simplistic.
-
@chronosapien234 Ok so what, are you implying that the Original Series and the Ben 10 sequels were not simplistic? Pokemon is simplistic? Just so you know, Pokemon is a lot more complex than you think; especially considering the sheer and very large variety of the various Pokemon that scatter the world. Here's another thing, this is Ben 10. It is simplistic yet very much complex. In fact, in regards to the art design, as I stated before, the reboot art design is too cartoony. For an action show, you don't really want an art design that is simplistic that much because as I stated before flash art does not work with most action shows. Especially when it comes to Ben 10. It needs the more complex yet very flexible western anime yet western anime is also surprisingly simplistic as well. It's fine if the reboot art design wants to be simplistic but the problem here is that it's too simplistic. The Original Series art design may be complex but it is also simplistic as well. Again, western anime is flexible and is able to be both complex and simplistic. Flash art is just mostly simplistic. The reboot art design is too simplistic for Ben 10.
Again, I'm fine with what your views are. I disagree with them but I also understand them. Ben 10 is supposed to be both complex and simplistic. To have a style and elements that are complex yet easy to understand. It needs an art design that works with both complexity and simplicity and that is what western animation is there for and that is why the reboot art design (flash art or not) doesn't and can't work for the reboot show.

Time to anounce the new alien! his name is overflow
-
Well, there's more to Overflow than just the name and that he's a water-type alien. According to chronosapien234 in chat, Overflow wears a red robotic suit and has the ability to shoot and control water as well as be able to freeze water into a very strong exoskeleton.
To me, that sounds a lot like a re-skin of Water Hazard but just more powerful. Overflow does sound like he would be useful to use but, in my opinion, he's not that creative. At least that's how I see him as.
chronosapien234 also stated that he plans to release a picture of an alien from the reboot artwork soon.
-
Here is another post that I want to make. chronosapien234 also states that Overflow is completely made out of water and that he needs the robotic suit to maintain his shape and to prevent Overflow from being reduced to a puddle of water. Yeah, surely sounds like Goop as well but with a full suit and not an anti-gravity multiplier device.
Here is what I don't like about Overflow and that is the suit itself. It is a misrepresentation and misunderstanding of how the Omnitrix actually works. This is a problem that I found with the sequels too. The Omnitrix is a DNA storage unit that has the ability to transform Ben into any of his aliens as well as be able to scan and collect new alien DNA into the watch itself. What it's not supposed to do is make and create tools and objects that Ben's aliens can use with that alien and Overflow is an example of this misconception. Now yes, I know that people are going to point out certain aliens such as Astrodactyl, NRG, and Goop but those aliens are examples of misrepresenting what the Omnitrix can actually and truly do. Overflow does need the suit to maintain his shape and form but Astrodactyl needs the jetpack to fly, NRG needs the suit to contain all that radiation that he gives off, and Goop needs the anti-gravity multiplier device to maintain his shape and allow movement. Despite the purpose of these items, this still doesn't excuse the fact that the Omnitrix shouldn't be able to create these very devices for Ben's aliens to use. Ripjaws needs water in order to survive and breath but does the Omnitrix create some water suit to allow Ripjaws to be fine on land? No it does not. In fact, look at every alien in the Original Series. Do any of these aliens come with a device or tool for them to use and allow them to function? That's a no. Overall, Overflow should not be getting a suit regardless of the purpose of that suit because it misrepresents how the Omnitrix actually works and it shows that Cartoon Network still doesn't truly understand the world of Ben 10 and how it actually works.
That's not the worse part though. I recently found this out that makes the situation with Overflow even worse. I found some fan made images of a water-type alien called Overflow. The fan made Overflow is completely made out of water and looks very similar to the description that chronosapien234 gave me for the new official alien in the Ben 10 Reboot. That's right, based off of the description alone, the official reboot Overflow and the fan made Overflow seem quite similar to each other except for the reboot Overflow using a suit. If this information (let alone the name itself) about the reboot Overflow is correct, then Cartoon Network could possibly have opened themselves up to a lawsuit. The fact that Overflow uses a red robotic suit could likely not even be enough to warrant that possibility of a lawsuit off either. This could spell quite a lot of trouble with the Ben 10 Reboot and Cartoon Network themselves if, again, this information about Overflow is correct.
Here are the links to the fan made Overflow. These are not the official images of the Ben 10 Reboot Overflow. chronosapien234 said that he'll release images of the reboot artwork soon so we'll see this new alien for ourselves when this happens. Feel free to take a look at these links and give me your thoughts on this ordeal with the reboot Overflow and the fan made Overflow.

That overflow looks nothing like the reboot overflow.
