So apparently cartoon network in the US wants to make a new block of cartoonito not as it's own channel but a programming block similar to adult swim. Basically Cartoon Network's equivalent to Nick Jr. Which is means less cartoon network programming in the CN channel unfortunately. Might as well throw in a boomerang in the set to make 4.

Great idea. Let's revisit the era that nearly killed Cartoon Network. Surely it'll go well this time.

Also, I'm going to need a citation on this:
"they embraced the idea 'without a blink.'”

Long form animated action is what's needed not live action shows surely Cartoon Network has sister channels for that crap.

D.C. Network just posted a video on the news that Live Action is coming back.

My take on this is whatever. I don't really watch CN anymore but I hope they actually make some quality shows if this is the path they are choosing to go down.

I think if Cartoon Network focused on advertising and the amount of people tuning in instead of toy sales. Then CN would be a much better channel right now.

@cooljay7 I'll admit that the insistence on CN pandering only to younger kids annoys me. Originally the targeted age range was meant to be 10-15 years old iirc (though of course not exclusive to those ages) meaning that CN shows used to be for an older audience who could understand more mature themes. But they then shifted it to a range more akin to 7-11 years old for some reason I mean, there are other channels which do show cartoons for younger kids, why does CN also have to do that when they can televise shows for an older age range? I'm guessing that it's to do with profit but they are making a mistake by isolating their teenage or adult audience.

And even then, for some reason CN thinks that kids are stupid and so many newer shows have the same old unfunny humour, bright colours, and same-y arstyle in them. I'm not suggesting that the Network should descend into edginess because that would be just as bad. I just think that they could do with some more variety in the types of shows which they make, far better than showing Teen Titans Go 24/7.

With regards to Ben 10 in particular, I wonder whether rerunning the original series, Alien Force, Ultimate Alien and Omniverse would spark the interest of kids because of how different they look in terms of art and feel in terms of tone. Then that could set up a possible Omniverse sequel, Ken 10 series, sequel reboot or whatever. That would not only attract younger kids but please the older fans too.

That's a really interesting point. Any of the former Ben 10 series or honestly any old CN original would really be a completely different look and feel from what's currently on the network. I wonder what the reaction would be from kids seeing shows with very distinctive/unique artsyles.

@cooljay7 I'd be interested to see what happens. It certainly can't hurt to try. I'm not saying that the artstyles of Steven Universe, Adventure Time or even the Ben 10 reboot are bad per se, given that high complexity does not necessarily make for a good art style. It just comes down to diversity of the artstyles on cartoons these days which imo aren't that broad right now.

I wonder what Cartoon Network would have been today if it wasn't for the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Boston bomb scare that led to the resignation of Jim Samples the president of Cartoon Network from 2001 to 2007.

@cooljay7 I think that this video by the Roundtable does a pretty solid job at talking about the lack of diversity of artstyles in animated shows.

Especially with Cartoon Network. What I find interesting is that the Ben 10 reboot was actually meant to have a more anime inspired art style before executives told them to tone it down and simplify it. Which is honestly kinda sad.

Overall it is concerning that the art styles from over 10 years ago look better and more varied than the artstyle's today which look very same-y.
