  • @Tyranidomega Rook was a nice character and the Nemetrix was a nice concept. The only new villains that I did like in Omniverse were just Malware, Khyber, and Maltruant considering that they were the only new villains that could at least somewhat challenge Ben. Other than that, Omniverse was just horrible and there are only some very few things about that show that I did like but it just wasn't enough to save Omniverse. Even Cartoon Network eventually realized that Omniverse was terrible.

    @Tactical-Ochoa What's your thoughts on Rook's martial arts teacher Kundo?

  • @Tactical-Ochoa What's your thoughts on Rook's martial arts teacher Kundo?

    @Tyranidomega Mixed bag. Again, there's not much of Omniverse that I like. I guess Kundo is ok.

  • I thought he was an A-hole

  • I thought he was an A-hole

    @chronosapien234 Rook? If so, explain how and why?

  • No, Kundo was the massive jerk. I liked rook

  • Albedo was a formidable foe, especialy in omniverse.

    @chronosapien234 Oh. Ok. You should have pointed out that you were referring to Kundo to avoid confusion.

    Eh, even Albedo is becoming less capable of challenging Ben even when he had the Ultimatrix. Albedo may be smarter than Ben but Ben is the better fighter and strategist as well as being much better experienced in using the Omnitrix than Albedo. As I stated before, too, Albedo is just not the true opposite and evil Ben and neither is Eon. It's Kevin and has and always will be Kevin.

  • In the Original series, my favorite villain was Ghostfreak. First, he was my favorite of the original 10 aliens, but I always felt that he was different from the others. I was surprised to see I was right.

    I think Ghostfreak's a good villain in general and I enjoyed his arc where it revealed that all those monster-aliens were his underlings, but for the most part it's because he was my favorite alien.

    Found Khyber's home world and species name- link text

    I like this kind of backstory, mostly because it isn't something that's cliche to the type of character Khyber is(like say, he comes from a species/family of hunters). Instead, Khyber's people live on a basically all around crappy planet, with his species(Zaroffians) forced to make a living by mining. Those who escape live on to become some of the most feared individuals in the galaxy. Interestingly, most Zaroffians that get off-world become warlords and criminals, but Khyber decided to pursue hunting.

    @Tyranidomega Well, the Original Series did hint that revelation with Ghostfreak. As for Khyber, his species does help to add to his character but again it pretty much fell apart for him in later appearances.

    @Tactical-Ochoa I can't remember if I ever noticed something was going to happen with Ghostfreak. If I recall there's this little fun fact that Ghostfreak was Ben's least used alien.

    @Tyranidomega Well, there's subtle clues that points to this with Ghostfreak such as Ben having a strange feeling whenever he uses Ghostfreak. It's probably those subtle clues such as that are the very reasons why Ben uses Ghsotfreak less than any of his other aliens.

  • I really liked Aggregor and the Highbreed. Aggregor was a pretty serious threat, and instead of having henchmen or minions, he preferred to handle things himself.
    I liked how the Highbreed were an entire race instead of one character, which IMO was a cool way to raise the stakes at the start of AF.

    And if I may on Khyber, I believe what Tyranidomega meant was because of Khyber's limited appearance he did not live up to be a serious threat that Tactical Ochoa thinks he could've been.

    Have to ask Tactical, how would you have Khyber grow to become a serious threat? I have some ideas myself, like maybe he resorts to kidnapping one of Ben's family.

    @Rexryder Aggregor is alright.That is a good point about him doing pretty much everything on his own. Although, are the Plumbers really not that aware about Aggregor killing one of their own. It took too long time for the Plumbers to connect the dots with Aggregor in my opinion.

    The Highbreed were alright as well. They were good at the start but I think the conflict with them could've ended better though. I don't exactly know how but I didn't really like the later moments with the Highbreed.

    As for Khyber, overall, what is important is that he needs to be able to truly challenge Ben. One of the biggest problems in the sequels is that Ben became too powerful. He was receiving too many aliens that were just too much for his villains and enemies to handle. Many of his newer aliens even make Ben's older and original aliens useless as well. Echo Echo, for example, making Ditto and Benwolf useless. Even Vilgax is progressively becoming less capable of challenging Ben. In the Original Series, even Dr. Animo was truly able to challenge Ben and become a serious threat to him. There are various different ways that Khyber can try to be more of a serious threat but the most important thing is that Khyber, and all or most of Ben's other enemies, need to be able to truly challenge Ben for the purpose of maintaining tension for the series.

  • @Tactical-Ochoa You make a really good point. Khyber actually had a chance of becoming a serious threat, for one reason: the Nemetrix. I agree with Tyranid's point on the Nemetrix, a unique concept where the Omnitrix aliens had natural predators that either countered their powers (Terroranchula, Hypnotick) or simply overpowered them (Tyrannopede, Slamworm)

    There was actually a concept idea of a predator for Waybig-here

    It would've made for a cool episode where Ben was stuck in Waybig for some reason and was very ill. This could've been the equivalent of Khyber poisoning Ben. Would something like this have made Khyber a serious threat?

    @Rexryder Khyber poisoning Ben? Probably not. Here is one thing about Khyber that worked against him. Khyber is a hunter. In the beginning of Omniverse, Khyber behaved like a hunter. Studying Ben to figure out his strengths and weaknesses, attacking Ben when he least expected it, ambush techniques, make cunning and intelligent moves when fighting Ben, etc. At one point, Khyber was even sniping at Ben with his rifle and shot and destroyed Ben's hover board so Ben could no longer use it to escape. Khyber behaved like an actual hunter. However, and this is where Khyber fell short on, in later appearances, Khyber decided to take a more sloppy approach and go for direct attacks on Ben. Even announcing his presence once or twice. In later appearances in Omniverse, Khyber behaved less like an actual hunter and more of just another generic enemy. This is one of the major reasons why Khyber became much less favorable in Omniverse. Because Cartoon Network decided to be lazy and just make Khyber, a villain with some good potential, from an intelligent and challenging foe into just another generic villain. Cartoon Network squandered that potential that Khyber had.

  • it just has to be kevin, and not just because I really like devlin its because kevin is the villain I ever saw and that transformation part in framed was awesome

  • @Tyranidomega I have a good bunch of favorites in the Ben 10 series. I'd say that, other than Vilgax, another strong favorite villain in the Ben 10 series for me is Kevin, and I'm referring to the Original Series Kevin. He is by far a great villain in the Ben 10 series mostly because Kevin truly represents the opposite of Ben. That Kevin is the true evil version of Ben. Not Eon and not Albedo. Kevin is the one villain that truly represents a version of Ben that is evil and that is what i like the most out of Kevin being a villain.

    It's unfortunate that Cartoon Network decided to make Kevin transition into a hero character, though. I don't like Kevin as being Ben's best friend and Gwen's boyfriend and, overall, as a hero character. It just doesn't work for the type of person that Kevin truly is and it is something that Kevin would never truly do and Ben and Gwen would never truly accept. I explain everything as to why in my "Addressing the Ben 10 Reboot" page on this website.Kevin doesn't work as a hero character and he should've stayed as a villain character because that is where Kevin is at his best and most fitting.

    Anyways, that is my favorite villain, other than Vilgax of course, in the Ben 10 series. Kevin is even second behind Vilgax for me.

    @Tactical-Ochoa
    Couldn't agree more.

  • I say other than Vilgax because we all know you can't beat the protagonist's arch nemesis, like Batman with Joker. That and it would be too obvious. So besides Vilgax, who is your favorite Ben 10 villain and why?

    For me, I'd have to say Khyber the Huntsman. While I liked Omniverse overall, I have to admit that the biggest reason I watched was for Khyber. Why I liked him:

    -I'd say his introduction was reminiscent of Vilgax in the Original Series. In the shadows watching, intimidating, mysterious, and charismatic. You have no idea who this guy is but you know he's a serious threat.

    -His motives. Khyber is different from other villains who fought Ben for the Omnitrix. Where most of them wanted the Omnitrix for power, or to sell it to the former for profit, Khyber sought out the Omnitrix to be his greatest trophy, to prove that he was"the greatest hunter in the galaxy". It's funny, I've never found myself too interested in the hunter villains, but I guess in the universe of Ben 10, I liked it as it offered something different in a villain for that series.

    -The Nemetrix. Even though it was Psychobos who created the Nemetrix, you know that this device was fit to be Khyber's signature weapon. I really liked the idea of the Nemetrix, transforming it's wearer into vicious predatory alien animals that were actually the natural predators of the aliens in the Omnitrix. It was creative for what you could call the anti-thesis to the Omnitrix. Plus, it added a new bunch of alien transformations to like outside the Omnitrix (favorite predator is Tyrannopede). I wish we could've seen more of the Nemetrix and more predators for the Omnitrix aliens.

    And there's other stuff like his appearance, personality (he's calm, intimidating, patient), etc.

    And there you go. Khyber is my favorite villain in the Ben 10 franchise other than Vilgax. I really hope he returns in the Ben 10 Reboot (if it turns out good)

    Oh and if you want, post your favorite quotes: "I am the Ultimate predator and YOU are the ultimate prey"

    @Tyranidomega
    For me it has to be Kevin. he really was the evil Ben. He was also a warning to Ben of what he could be, and probably would be without Max and Gwen. As I see it Vilgax may be the main villain of the show but Kevin is Ben's true nemesis. They are perfect enemies.

    As for AF and the others, it would be like making the Joker change his ways and become Batman's partner. Or emperor Palpatine becoming Yoda's best friend.

    @car54 Nice analogy there.

  • totally agree i never got why they redeemed kevin and made him uncrazy his craziness was what i thought made him an interesting character. Kevin introduced alien fusions before ben did lol.

    Something recently came to mind and that is who I find to be a suitable choice to provide the voice of Ben 10,000/adult Ben Tennyson; especially for the direction for the redesign that I discussed here. That choice is Reuben Langdon, the voice of Dante from Devil May Cry 3 to the recently released Devil May Cry 5. Thinking back to Dante as a character and Langdon's performance of him (most notably his DMC5 performance), I find that Langdon would be a suitable choice to provide the voice of an adult Ben Tennyson. Dante is an incredibly cocky and fun-loving individual and the same can pretty much be said for Ben as well. Cocky and fun-loving while still treating more serious situations with, well, seriousness and focus. Plus, I also find Langdon's DMC5 Dante performance to also sound like a proper match for an adult Ben. If I were to imagine how Ben would sound like as an adult based on the voice that Tara Strong is well known for displaying, I say that Langdon's voice would be a very close match. Feel free to check out Dante in DMC5 and see for yourself if that sort of voice and this very voice actor would indeed be a good choice to voice an adult Ben or not.

    I would add that Gwen also share similarities with another Peter Parker love interest: Felicia Hardy, a.k.a. the Black Cat. Both are "cat-themed", (Gwen wears a shirt with a cat logo in Original Series) and the first time Lucky Girl appears she has luck-based powers, just like Black Cat, and their costumes are very similar (black, cat mask). So, Gwen Tennyson is like a mix of Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson and Felicia Hardy.
