Who is your favorite Ben 10 Villain, other than Vilgax?
-
@Tactical-Ochoa Personally I grew to like Kevin as a hero, but I completely agree with the rest of what you said. Kevin was a terrifying villain in the Original Series and it's great that what you said about him representing an evil version of Ben, or what if Ben used his abilities for evil deeds.
In fact I really like those types of villains where they have all the powers and abilities of the heroes plus their own unique power. I like to call them the "superior version", and the obstacle for the hero being to fight this enemy who has everything they had and more. -
@Tyranidomega I also grew to liking Kevin as a hero character when I was in my teenage years but when I went back and watched all the Ben 10 shows again, it just felt wrong for Kevin to be a hero character. I didn't like it. It just doesn't fit the type of person that he truly is. Heck, he's still behaves like a villain and a criminal because in the sequels, Kevin continues to make decisions and perform actions that are just obviously illegal. Weapons trafficking being the most common example of that. If you like Kevin as a hero character, I'm fine with your opinion. After all, it is your opinion. Really though, Kevin just doesn't work as a hero character. It doesn't suit and fit him at all and it makes absolutely no sense and is completely not understandable as to why Kevin decides to transition into a hero character and why Ben and Gwen would even trust and accept him at all considering everything that Kevin had done to them in the Original Series. Plus, Kevin's transition was done so poorly and lazily as well. Kevin's transition into a hero character and him being Gwen's boyfriend and Ben's best friend was badly and poorly rushed and forced. It was just implemented so badly. Overall, to me, Kevin is just better and at his best as a villain and he should've stayed as a villain.
-
@Tactical-Ochoa I guess "superior version" is a good way to sum up characters and villains such as Kevin. I can agree on that.
-
@Tactical-Ochoa Yeah if I could come up with a good comparison, it's kinda like the dynamic between Spiderman and Venom, just based on the fact that Venom has Spiderman's powers and was always stronger than him.
-
@Tyranidomega Yeah. I did initially like Khyber as well. You did make some good points about him in Omniverse. Unfortunately, Cartoon Network decides to be Cartoon Network and as Omniverse went on with it's seasons, Khyber became more dumbed down to the point where I could no longer favor and credit him as a villain. A good start for him but eventually Khyber succumbed to Cartoon Network's idiotic mindset of dumbing everything down.
-
@Tactical-Ochoa Well, to be fair Khyber didn't have that many appearances in the show anyways. After the 2nd season he disappeared until Albedo teamed up with him and then had his final appearance with Skurd where he was finally caught by the Plumbers.
-
@Tyranidomega Yeah but still, Khyber did have some potential to at least be close to the level as, heck, maybe Vilgax but that potential just ended up being squandered. Vilgax didn't have that many appearances in the Original Series either and look how great of a villain he turned out to be. Just as you mentioned, Vilgax is just too easy of a choice to be considered a favorite villain among fans because he really is the best villain in the series. Quantity doesn't really factor in at all here. It's more importantly about quality. Therefore, Khyber not appearing as often as you state isn't really a justifiable excuse. Heck, come to think of it, Khyber pretty much was the Omniverse version of Vilgax but again, he had a good start but Khyber was no longer able to deliver (or at least able to deliver as well as he did at the start of his run) in his later appearances.
-
@Tactical-Ochoa What about Malware (who I also like). I think Malware was the closest to the next Vilgax.
-
@Tyranidomega Malware was pretty good. He was one of the very few things about Omniverse and the Ben 10 sequels that I did like and I don't even like the sequels very well. Yeah, I guess I could consider Malware a favorite villain for me. He was pretty much one of the very few best and only good parts about Omniverse. The rest of Omniverse was just absolute garbage.
-
@Tactical-Ochoa For me Rook, the villains, and the Nemetrix were the best thing about Omniverse.
-
@Tyranidomega Rook was a nice character and the Nemetrix was a nice concept. The only new villains that I did like in Omniverse were just Malware, Khyber, and Maltruant considering that they were the only new villains that could at least somewhat challenge Ben. Other than that, Omniverse was just horrible and there are only some very few things about that show that I did like but it just wasn't enough to save Omniverse. Even Cartoon Network eventually realized that Omniverse was terrible.
-
@Tactical-Ochoa What's your thoughts on Rook's martial arts teacher Kundo?
-
@Tyranidomega Mixed bag. Again, there's not much of Omniverse that I like. I guess Kundo is ok.
-
I thought he was an A-hole
-
@chronosapien234 Rook? If so, explain how and why?
-
No, Kundo was the massive jerk. I liked rook
-
Albedo was a formidable foe, especialy in omniverse.
-
@chronosapien234 Oh. Ok. You should have pointed out that you were referring to Kundo to avoid confusion.
Eh, even Albedo is becoming less capable of challenging Ben even when he had the Ultimatrix. Albedo may be smarter than Ben but Ben is the better fighter and strategist as well as being much better experienced in using the Omnitrix than Albedo. As I stated before, too, Albedo is just not the true opposite and evil Ben and neither is Eon. It's Kevin and has and always will be Kevin.

In the Original series, my favorite villain was Ghostfreak. First, he was my favorite of the original 10 aliens, but I always felt that he was different from the others. I was surprised to see I was right.
I think Ghostfreak's a good villain in general and I enjoyed his arc where it revealed that all those monster-aliens were his underlings, but for the most part it's because he was my favorite alien.
Found Khyber's home world and species name- link text
I like this kind of backstory, mostly because it isn't something that's cliche to the type of character Khyber is(like say, he comes from a species/family of hunters). Instead, Khyber's people live on a basically all around crappy planet, with his species(Zaroffians) forced to make a living by mining. Those who escape live on to become some of the most feared individuals in the galaxy. Interestingly, most Zaroffians that get off-world become warlords and criminals, but Khyber decided to pursue hunting.
-
@Tyranidomega Well, the Original Series did hint that revelation with Ghostfreak. As for Khyber, his species does help to add to his character but again it pretty much fell apart for him in later appearances.
